As the ninth successful season of Music In Mears continues to bring plenty of stellar outdoor performances to St. Paul throughout the summer, the sixth annual Concrete and Grass Lowertown Music Festival has announced that they will be bringing three days of free music of their own to lovely Mears Park from September 6-8.
The Concrete and Grass festival marks the launch of the fall performance season for the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, the Ordway, and the Schubert Club, and presents a unique, tasteful blend of classical and modern music for fans of all ages. The free festival will give audiences a chance to preview what is in store for them in the upcoming classical season, as well as check out some talented local groups from the Twin Cities as well.
Other than the sure to be stirring performances from the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, the Minnesota Opera, and special presentations from McNally Smith College of Music, the Schubert Club, and the Ordway, the highlight of this year's Concrete and Grass Festival is surely the closing set from the Jayhawks' Gary Louris.
It will certainly be a treat for local music fans to see and hear Louris performing an intimate outdoor show in St. Paul to close out the festival on what promises to be a truly special Saturday night in Mears Park.
In addition to the wonderful music on offer, there will be food, wine, and beer provided from the exceptional restaurants in the Lowertown Entertainment District, as well as popular food trucks spread throughout the park all festival long.
