Bald-headed and blank-faced Moby is a controversial figure in a genre that doesn't really have controversial figures. Pioneering dance music since the earliest raves, the outspoken pacifist super-veg was one of the first producers to treat each of his tracks like a pop song and not a throw-away draft, and surely the first to be dissed in a hit by a top-charting rapper (Eminem vs. Moby started after our little raver called the MC a misogynist, anti-Semite and homophobe, which, at the time, wasn't too far off).
