Bald-headed and blank-faced Moby
is a controversial figure in a genre that doesn't really have controversial figures. Pioneering dance music since the earliest raves, the outspoken pacifist super-veg was one of the first producers to treat each of his tracks like a pop song and not a throw-away draft, and surely the first to be dissed in a hit by a top-charting rapper (Eminem vs. Moby started after our little raver called the MC a misogynist, anti-Semite and homophobe, which, at the time, wasn't too far off).
While all of this certainly fuels his profile, its his ethereal, often ballad-structured electronica that keeps fans enthralled -- his latest album Wait For Me prompting a tour that will make a stop in Minneapolis at the Fine Line. The latter venue took on the show after its original host, Myth, closed.
