First Avenue hiring a new booking department assistant
It's a pretty solid bet that some Gimme Noise readers have considered working (or have worked) at a music venue at some point. Well, when this posting jumped up, it seemed only fair to share that the downtown club First Avenue is in the market for a new recruit.
The booking department is looking to add an assistant. Love being in bed early, quiet places, and staying chained to your desk? Then this is not the job for you, silly. We have the actual requirements of the job after the jump, and for the person with the right skill set, this is quite an opportunity.
Booking Department Assistant
First Avenue, the Twin Cities' busiest live music promoter and one of Billboard's "2012 Most Influential Clubs in the Country", is looking for an addition to our booking department. Are you a music fanatic who likes working nights? Hungry to help put on the best live music experiences in the country? Come be a part of the First Avenue team and help produce and promote over 600 shows a year!
Coordinate all show details with tour manager, from booking through day-of-show, and relay info to the promoter/venue.
Arrive before doors and serve as contact for promoter/venue for day-of-show needs and issues.
Arrange hospitality, including shopping and staying within budget.
Deal with ticketing and guestlist issues at the door.
Gather all show expenses, tally door numbers, finalize settlement sheets, and pay tour managers/bands after show.
Stay in communication with operations managers/door people on number of sellable tickets available and problems that may occur.
Track and compile show-related information.
Coordinate information on Advance Sheets, Offer Sheets, Door Sheets, Sound Sheets, Contacts Database, Expense/Revenue Sheets.
Assist in any needs of booking or box office staff, including basic office and administrative tasks.
This is not a 9-5 job!! Must be comfortable working nights on a schedule that's determined by the First Avenue Productions show calendar.
Must be resourceful, quick to think on your feet, organized, and self-disciplined. MUST be a team player with a can-do positive attitude, and feel comfortable maintaining a superior level of service to the venue, owners, artists, artist reps, and fans 100% OF THE TIME - under extreme pressure
Must have a passion for music and diversity in musical taste, the arts and entertainment.
