Doomtree Blowout X is the Last Ever

itemprop
Doomtree's annual Blowouts have become a rite of passage for area music fans who want to combat the cold sting of winter in Minnesota by getting down with their friends and the local rap collective. Now the talented hip-hop crew has decided to go out blazing with one final series of shows. Between December 6 and 13, Doomtree will be throwing their last -- and biggest -- Blowout ever, with 10 different events packed into eight fun-filled days.

This doesn't mean the end of Doomtree in any way, just the final installment of their now legendary Blowouts, with plenty of new and exciting traditions sure to come from them in the future.

But for now, take a look at all the wild events Doomtree have planned for Blowout X, and start getting some rest for those eight crazy days in December.

Tickets go on sale on Friday, October 3 at noon. Doomtree will also be selling tickets in person at the Depot that same Friday beginning at 4:30 p.m. A limited number of badges will also be available that will get you in to every show throughout the week.

On top of the sure-to-be special performances, a portion of all Blowout sales will be donated these various charities and benevolent local causes -- Southside Family Nurturing Center, Animal Humane Society, Hope Community Center, Domestic Abuse Project, and Kicker Project.

First up is the Turf Club on Saturday, December 6, in what Doomtree are calling a "big bang in a little room." That's right, the entire crew packed in to the newly renovated Turf Club stage. A memorable way to get the final Blowout going. On Sunday, December 7, Doomtree have a "creative collaboration" planned with Surly Brewing. The details of this show have yet to be fully announced, but the rap collective found a lot in common with the DIY ethos of the local brewery, and decided to make a Surly Doomtree Day out of it. Check Doomtree.net for updated information about this show. At Icehouse on Monday, December 8, the various side projects of the Doomtree members get the spotlight. The myriad musical outlets of the Doomtree crew will be on full display throughout the night, with good times and cool collaborations guaranteed. Doomtree head out to the schools for their self-proclaimed Kids Day on Tuesday, December 9. The crew will read books to preschool kids, workshop with junior high students, and write some raps with high schoolers, all before closing things down with an all-ages show at the Triple Rock early that night. In honor of the actual 10th anniversary of the very first Doomtree Blowout, the crew are taking things back to where it all began with a show at the Varsity Theater on Wednesday, December 10. Tpt will also be on-hand to film an episode of their Lowertown Line music series at the show. Doomtree brings the Blowout back to First Avenue on Thursday, December 11. The crew's "favorite venue in the entire world" has played host to every Blowout since the second one, and this return to First Ave should be one of the biggest parties yet. On Friday, December 12, Doomtree have some fun planned on both sides of the river. For the second-to-last day of the Blowout, the crew is going to put on a show and interview session during a live recording from the Current's UBS Forum. That night, they will trek back to First Avenue for another big night in the Mainroom.

For the Grand Finale on Saturday, December 13, there's truly no other venue where Doomtree can rightfully have their last and final Blowout than the Mainroom at First Avenue, a club that has played host to some of the finest moments of the group's career. This show is 21+, and things are bound to get a little rowdy as we bring the Blowout to an end -- as they should.
