Dessa announces free show in Rochester

After recently returning from Doomtree's highly successful debut European Tour, Dessa isn't letting herself rest for too long. The compelling singer/MC is set to perform in Rochester for the first time on Thursday, June 21, and the show is free.

Dessa is bringing along her full band to mark the occasion, including singer Aby Wolf, with the performance set for the Peace Plaza in Downtown Rochester as part of the city's Thursdays at First and Third Live Music Series.

The event has allotted Dessa a generous two hour headlining slot for her performance, which is scheduled to run from 6:30-8:30 that evening, so the show will certainly be worth it for anyone making the drive down from the Twin Cities. And hopefully plenty of people in Rochester, whether they are familiar with Dessa or not, take the opportunity to head out to hear two of the best, most assured voices in the Minnesota music scene.

Minneapolis electro-rock trio, Apollo Cobra, will serve as the opening act for Dessa, beginning at 4:30. While the Grammy-nominated Afro-Caribbean jam band Locos Por Juana will also be part of the event, performing on the nearby 1st Ave stage at the same time as Dessa, as part of their World Music Series.

So, there seems to be a lot of stellar live music on offer in Rochester on June 21, no matter where your tastes lie. And it's all for free.
