An esoteric flyer handed out at Soundset hints at a collab between Dem Atlas and the legendary MF DOOM.

A booklet handed out earlier this month at Soundset spawned some of the most enticing Twin Cities hip-hop news of the year.

As a Reddit post that surfaced on Sunday advertises, it seems that legendary rapper/producer MF DOOM will be working with Rhymesayers heir apparent Dem Atlas on a new collaboration entitled MF DEM

DOOM, a one-time RSE talent who released his anachronistic MM.. FOOD on the hometown indie label in 2004, has played auteur for Jneiro Jarel and Bishop Nehru in the past half decade. And now it appears the real-life Daniel Dumile has tabbed the grungy, 23-year-old St. Paul rapper born Joshua Turner to be his next partner.

No definitive date was given for the project, but an ominous inscription on the flyer reads "COMING SOON."

Dem took to Twitter yesterday to clarify some details around MF DEM. It'll be a 13-song mixtape (which is basically an album), and all the beats for the songs will be made by DOOM. He also clarified that the beats are preexisting and not ones the masked rhymer cooked up for Dem specifically.

While the answers provided are enough to frenzy over, there are still so many questions. How did the two hook up? Who were these beats meant for? Will they tour the material?

And, most importantly, how the duo will match aesthetically?

DOOM's work behind the boards tends to be kicked-back and comic-booky, whereas Dem Atlas' skills on the mic are wild and energetic. Seeing him spit over a totally alien backdrop could be the most exciting development of Dem's young, exploding career.
