After hosting plenty of memorable shows within their distinguished Jazz Club and Restaurant throughout the rest of the year, the Dakota is now set to bring their spirited support of live music outdoors in the streets of downtown Minneapolis, for their 3rd annual Dakota Street Festival on Saturday, July 27. The free, all day music festival will take place along Nicollet Mall between 10th and 12th street, and will feature four separate music stages, musical instrument demos for kids and adults alike, fire dancers, stilt walkers, and plenty of local beverage and food vendors to keep you satiated throughout the day.

The Dakota Street Fest is a distinctive way for the Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant, now in its 28th year of operation, to strengthen their connection with downtown Minneapolis -- where it has been residing now for the past 10 years -- as well as thank their many patrons and supporters over the years.

As with the typical year-round bookings inside the Dakota, the lineup for the Dakota Street Fest is a diverse and lively one, with Debbie Duncan, Toki Wright, Crankshaft, Isadore, Rey Rivera, Sonny Knight, the Irv Williams Trio, Paul Metsa and Willie Walker, Nachito Herrera, and many other talented musicians all performing on the four separate stages throughout the day.

In addition to the free and festive music on offer, Del Monte's Kidsville will be featuring instrument demos at the MacPhail Music Factory, so young aspiring musicians can try out and play various instruments of their choosing. The Dakota Street Fest has plenty of fun for the entire family, no matter your age or musical interests, with plenty of arts and crafts available, face painting, fire dancers, and the Chicks on Sticks stilt walkers.

The Dakota Dog House will also be offering up plenty of house made hot dogs for nourishment, while the good folks at Summit beer will make sure no one goes thirsty throughout the day long festival.

And, after all of the music has wound down, the vinyl junkies at Secret Stash Records will be hosting a sure-to-be funky after party, which will definitely bring the festivities to a spirited end.
