Those of you who look forward every year to the Music in the Zoo series throughout the summer at the Minnesota Zoo now have something to tide you over while you wait for things to get warm again. Como Park Zoo and Conservatory has announced the lineup for its Music Under Glass series, featuring a string of free concerts throughout the winter months, all held in the gorgeous, tranquil setting of the Marjorie McNeely Conservatory.

On early Sunday evenings throughout January, February, and the beginning of March, you can gather in the splendor of the Conservatory and catch some live performances that are sure to make you forget about how cold it is outside. The eight weeks of free shows all will run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., with guests asked to use the Conservatory's Visitor Center doors for admittance.

The musicians will each perform in the Conservatory's lovely Sunken Garden, a setting that should only add to their musical charms. While there are a limited number of benches in the area for seating, these shows are primarily standing events. Beer and wine will be available for purchase during the shows, with hi-top tables set up around the Conservatory for the convenience of the guests.

The dates and lineup for Como Zoo's Music Under Glass 2014 lineup is below (please note that there will not be a concert on January 26), along with descriptions of the bands set to perform.

January 12 - The Sunny Era - Gypsy indie rock with driving rhythms, intriguing lyricism, and lush instrumental sounds. The Sunny Era create songs that play on the striking contrast between bright and hopeful to dark and mysterious.

January 19 - The Parisota Hot Club - Channeling the music of Django Reinhardt and playing Gypsy Jazz, String Swing mixed with '60's Pop tunes and noir style movie themes.

February 2 - Urban Hillbilly Quartet - Fervent eclectics who like to mash together country, bluegrass, and rock n' roll and liable to wander into funk, Arabic, or Irish music at the drop of a hi-hat.

February 9 - The Sudden Lovelys - This prolific duo creates a unique and earnest sound that could best be described as "Aggressive Folk."

February 16 - Café Accordion Orchestra - Loungy, eclectic mix, full of French flare, Latin heat and Bohemian attitude. A wonderfully varied show with swing, ballads, tangos, cha-chas, & rumbas.

February 23 - The Ericksons - Heart-breaking, and sometimes heart-warming harmonies form the base of their "haunting folk" sound.

March 2 - Jack Klatt - Playing guitar and singing songs that resonate with glorious blues, rags, jazz, and hokum from bygone times.
