ComedySportz turns 20 this weekend

Did you know that September 24 was officially declared ComedySportz Day in Minneapolis? Neither did I, but yesterday Mayor R.T. Rybak made it so. You can belatedly celebrate this Uptown comedy club tonight and tomorrow.

The improv club opened its doors in 1989, the same year that brought us Peaches Geldof. It's obvious which is the better of the two. Throughout the weekend the club will be celebrating its 20 years of making Minnesotans laugh with special events. Friday partiers can snatch up t-shirts and tickets to The Invention of Lying. Saturday founder Dick Chudnow will give a special performance. Each night there will also be birthday cake to enjoy during the show.

ComedySportz is located in Calhoun Square at 3001 Hennepin Avenue South in Minneapolis. Tickets are $12 (or $8 for kids) with showtimes at 8 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. For more info call 612.870.1230 or visit www.comedysportztc.com.
