Cause has been closed since July.

The closing/not closing saga of Cause Spirits & Soundbar has finally hit an inescapable legal roadblock. Earlier this month, the Lyn-Lake venue got an eviction notice taped to its door, and has a hearing scheduled for this week.

[jump] In the notice, Cause is listed as its previous name, "Sauce." After the venue announced its five-year anniversary earlier this year, the event soon turned into a farewell weekend in July. Initially, it was reported that the team behind Mac's Industrial Sports Bar would open a sports-viewing venue in the rock bar's old spot -- but that ultimately didn't happen. There was an attempt to re-open the bar backed by a crowdfunding campaign this fall.

Legal representatives for Marbill Properties did not have any comment. Cause owner Mike Riehle did not respond immediately to a request for comment. We will update this story as we have more information.
