Caroline Smith creates Kickstarter campaign for her new album

Over the past year, Caroline Smith has been creatively reworking and restyling many different facets of her band. She's brought a confident, soulful edge to her acoustic folk pop, while bringing in talented backup singers Lizzo (from the Chalice) and Hannah Von der Hoff to fill out her songs as well as her artistic ambitions. She even dropped the Good Night Sleeps from her band name for clarity's sake, though thankfully she's kept her talented longtime bandmates trustfully by her side.

As she gets ready to release her third full-length album, Half About Being a Woman, on October 8, she has set up a Kickstarter campaign to help fund the printing of the record, to alleviate the cost of making music videos for the songs featured on the album, and to help promote it to a wider audience, all while strengthening the connections with her fans that Smith has worked so hard to develop and maintain over the years.

As Smith so affectionately states on her Kickstarter page: "Your support and donations are the sole reasons why our band can stay independent and debt free. We are promising to only give you incentives that will be fun and fulfilling. In addition, this will be the first place where you'll not only get the album a couple weeks before it's release, but immediately you can have the new single, even without donating anything. Because we want you to have it. It's the least we can do."

Some of the awesome incentives for contributing to her Kickstarter include early advance copies of the album itself in a digital format, CD, and a special deluxe vinyl edition, tickets to a special pre-release party at a secret location in Minneapolis, a custom-made t-shirt, tickets to Smith's First Avenue show on September 27, a test-pressing of the Half About Being a Woman vinyl (one of only five ever made), a framed and signed handwritten lyric sheet, and a special Ladies Night where Caroline herself will come hang out with you and your five closest friends, as well as exclusive private performances for substantial contributions.

Plus, you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are contributing to a genuine, talented musician who is on the verge of setting the Twin Cities music scene (and beyond) on its collective ear.

Caroline has this to say about her new record and the Kickstarter campaign she has created for it:

"Half About Being a Woman is a record about self-acceptance and going back to the roots of 'feel-good' music. I wanted to find my way back to the reason why I started playing music in the first place and, I have to say, I have never had so much fun writing, recording, and performing music as I have with these new songs. It's because all of you that I could make this record. Your unwavering support has allowed me to write freely and to be myself and I can't tell you how fortunate I feel to find myself in such a supportive community. This record is so important to me and I can't wait to share it with you all: the people that absolutely made it possible. So we present unto you our Kickstarter campaign and a brand new single that you can only find here and, if you so choose, you can have it for free. Because it's the least I can do for everything you've done for me."

So, give a listen to and download Caroline Smith's brand new single, "Magazine," at her Kickstarter page while you are making any type of contribution to her cause that you can. And get yourself ready to be completely blown away by Half About Being a Woman, an album that represents Caroline's most assured, inspired batch of songs yet in a career that is still in its creative ascendancy.
