The Boss is coming back to the X.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band announced a 24-date U.S. tour Friday in support of The Ties That Bind: The River Collection, the 4-CD/3-DVD comprehensive box set that arrived in stores today via Columbia Records. Springsteen will be performing The River in its entirety at each stop along the tour.

The River Tour kicks off January 16 in Pittsburgh, and lands at St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center on February 29. Tickets ($57.50-$152.50) go on sale December 11 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster and the Xcel Energy Center box office. Recordings of every marathon performance will be made available at Live.BruceSpringsteen.net

The River, Springsteen's killer 1980 double-album, is considered the 253th best of all time by Rolling Stone. The Ties That Bind: The River Collection includes The River, an unreleased 10-track 1979 album called The River: Single Album, and The River: Outtakes, a collection of studio cuts from 1979-1980. The DVDs feature previously unreleased concert footage and a documentary.

The Boss is set to play Saturday Night Live on December 19, with Tina Fey and Amy Poehler (!!!) hosting.

Springsteen, 66, last played the Twin Cities in 2012, when he performed back-to-back gigs at Xcel (Mayor Chris Coleman even named a makebelieve street in his honor). His 2014 High Hopes tour skipped Minnesota.
