Black Blondie CD release tonight at the Triple Rock
Black Blondie, cold lamping.
It's been a long road for Black Blondie, one gilded by awards and heaping appreesh from all sorts of local music critics, a Picked to Click slot a couple years ago. Tonight, at last, Black Blondie's long-awaited Do You Remember Who You Wanted To Be drops. With the help of M.Anifest and DJ Turtleneck, the Triple Rock should be at its most adroit, its most contemplative and its most musically diverse.
Black Blondie have made a great name for themselves in this town-- quietly daring, Black Blondie rules their craft with a soft touch, expressing their ideas in a croon that is not weakened by an apparent breathlessness. That's their way-- there's nothing overbearing in Black Blondie's music, and the new album is an intensely intimate capture of the velvet hammer sound they've spent the last several years perfecting. Look to M.anifest, the local Ghana born rapper, to add a twist of wry, aware rhyming to the mix.
