Name: Sara Montour
How and when did you get involved with music photography?
I started photographing concerts roughly 10 years ago when I was living in Duluth. Then when I moved to Minneapolis I -- like a lot of the other rad photographers on this list -- started shooting for HowWasTheShow.com and for other publications and bands.
What are some highlights of your professional photography experience?
Definitely one of the most rewarding and exciting things to come out of it is channeling those friendships and connections that were created through years of music photography into our LIVE LETTERS concerts.
Where can people find your work (exhibits, album covers, publications, etc.)?
Lately? As the profile photo for your favorite local musician's Tinder account.
What is your favorite part of doing music photography?
My heart belongs to the local music community, so my favorite moments are generally wrapped up in documenting these amazing local artists do what they absolutely love to do.
What dos/don'ts do you have for young photographers who would like to pursue this type of work?
Work hard & be kind.
Here's my website, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and Facebook.
