This morning, Cities 97 filled in a few gaps on the schedule for this summer's Basilica Block Party, which was mostly revealed during an extended broadcast last Thursday. In addition to adding Citizen Cope to the opening slot for Drive-By Truckers on the Walser Stage on July 9, the station threw us a curve ball: They're bringing back the Jayhawks to play the main stage on opening night, July 8, right before headliner David Gray.
It's hard to say if this summer's appearance by the Jayhawks will be able to top that grandiose experience, but with a new album in the works there's a good chance their Basilica set will be heavy on new material (we hope, anyway) -- which could make it memorable in its own right.
Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 7. Single-night tickets are $40 and two-night passes are $70 (after June 26 and at the door, tickets will be $45 for one night and $80 for two nights). Tickets are available through Ticketmaster, and without service fees at the Local, the Liffey, Kieran's Irish Pub, and Cooper Irish Pub.
