The stellar music lineup at the 331 Club this weekend certainly isn't the only thing worth seeking out at this year's Art-A-Whirl. In addition to the fine locally created original artwork on offer as well as art studios opened up for tours, there are plenty of other terrific lineups that should keep area music fans plenty busy over the next few days.
The local independent breweries 612Brew and Indeed Brewing Company have both announced wonderful Art-A-Whirl events that have something special in store for connoisseurs of art, beer, and music alike.
612Brew, located at Central and Broadway, have a two-day outdoor concert planned on May 17-18, with 10 bands set to play over the course of those two days. Celebrated local artist David Witt (DWITT) will also be on hand in the taproom to sign his work, including a poster designed specifically for 612Brew's inaugural Art-A-Whirl bash.
The brewery has also partnered with the local charitable t-shirt company, ProjectAl, to design a limited edition 612Brew Art-A-Whirl shirt that will only be available this weekend. All proceeds from sales of the shirts will be donated to the Northeast Minneapolis Arts Association (NEMAA), the parent organization of Art-A-Whirl.

Indeed is expanding their taproom to an outdoor tent with more seating and taps on offer, as well as live art and prints available from Chuck U, visual and performance art taking place indoors, and gourmet street food available. And, to provide the musical soundtrack to the festivities, Indeed has seven bands scheduled to play outdoors throughout their free, all-day party on May 18th, which begins at noon, and continues straight through until 11 that night.
Indeed has announced their beer line-up for their Art-A-Whirl celebration, with taps of Shenanigans Summer Ale, Day Tripper Pale Ale, Midnight Ryder American Black Ale, Let It Ride IPA, and the premier of L.S.D Honey Ale all flowing plentifully throughout the day.
