Are You Local? Unveils 2015 Lineup

The polls are officially closed for the sixth annual Are You Local? tally. Vita.mn's quest to find a hot Minnesota act has yielded four finalists who will square off at First Avenue in March. The show features three more-established area talents in rapper Brother Ali, garage rockers the Blind Shake, and dream-pop act Tiny Deaths.

The AYL? winner will hasten to South by Southwest to perform at the First Ave/Vita.mn showcase. Let's keep it clean, fighters. Here are the contenders.

[jump] Baby Shel | SoundCloud
Yelawolf fans will link up with this quick-tongued rapper from Red Lake (up near Bemidji). Shel's machine gun skills are all over "Automatic Go," featured on his first proper solo album, Soulo. Released in late 2014, the album is a reunion with regular beats collaborator Garlic Brown. More on Shel here.

Sam Cassidy | SoundCloud
After already notching a slot in First Avenue's Best New Bands of 2014 showcase earlier this year, Sam Cassidy is enjoying a wave of attention following last year's LP Debt. The alt-Americana artist's reverberating voice over rich, twang-tinged desert rock paints vivid images of life's daily struggles.

Moon & Pollution | Bandcamp
On the cutting edge of ambient rock, downtempo, and R&B, Moon & Pollution match their adventurous musicality with unbridled emotion. The collaboration between vocalist Molly Dean and multi-instrumentalist Graham O'Brien coalesces on The Box Borealis, which came out earlier this year. Our interview is here.

The Stress of Her Regard | Bandcamp
Following the breakup of the Idle Hands, Ciaran Daly, Criostoir Daly, and Eric Wilson assembled a shoegaze-laced project called the Stress of Her Regard (it's a book). There's more than a little Jesus and Mary Chain in their DNA, and Go 96.3 has taken a liking to them. Read more about their Sport Marriage EP here.

Are You Local? 2015. With Brother Ali, the Blind Shake, Tiny Deaths, Baby Shel, Sam Cassidy, Moon & Pollution, and the Stress of Her Regard. Friday, March 6 at First Avenue. Tickets.
