Amy Winehouse dead at 27

A tragic life comes to an end. Troubled singer and songwriter Amy Winehouse, who has publicly battled addiction since emerging internationally with her breakout sophomore album Back to Black in 2006, was found dead in her London home today at 4 p.m. London time. She was 27.

Sadly, this news doesn't exactly come as a shock to those who have been following Winehouse's public persona of late. After a disastrous show in Belgrade last month that saw Winehouse stumbling around the stage and singing incoherently, the remainder of her European dates were called off and her handlers said they would keep her off the road for "as long as it takes" for her to make a full recovery from her substance abuse problems.

No cause of death has officially been released. Winehouse had been working on the follow-up to her 2006 album, Back to Black, for the last three years.
