Amsterdam Bar & Hall opens tonight for a preview with Red Pens and BNLX
As we reported last week, the new downtown St. Paul music venue Amsterdam Bar & Hall is opening its doors for the first time tonight for a preview, which will feature performances by Red Pens, BNLX, and Lillian and the Harveys in addition to offering concertgoers the first peek at the potential of the new space. Amsterdam is located in the Lawson Commons building -- it was formerly the site of the restaurant Pop! at 6th and Wabasha -- and is owned by Jon and Jarret Oulman, the same team that brought us the 331 Club in Northeast and the short-lived 501 Club in downtown Minneapolis.
Amsterdam will be one of a trio of new music-related spots to open on that block of downtown St. Paul this fall. Gig-poster shop Big Table Studio is also hosting a soft opening tonight at 6 p.m. (check their Facebook event for details
); and longstanding favorite Eclipse Records will give it another go in what will now be its third location, which is scheduled to open next week.
