Amphetamine Reptile Records planning 25th anniversary show
Boss Hog circa 1993
Influential local noise rock label Amphetamine Reptile Records (also known as AmRep) is coming up on a milestone: "25 years ago AmRep released it's first 7"," the label proclaimed yesterday (which, according to their discography page, was a Halo of Flies 7" in 1986). To celebrate the anniversary, they are organizing what is shaping up to be an epic reunion show on August 28 with seminal AmRep bands the Melvins, Boss Hog, God Bullies, and Today Is The Day; they say they also plan to add more bands to the bill throughout the summer.
"No Cows, we actually tried," the label writes. "Hammerhead??? Stay tuned -- we may all get X-Mas early."
No word on a venue yet, but their Facebook page offers up one more hint: "It will be outside!" Considering that AmRep founder Tom Hazelmyer also owns the Grumpy's chain and the Ox-Op Gallery, our guess is that it will end up in the downtown Minneapolis Grumpy's parking lot -- but we'll post an update once we get more information from the label.
