Alexander O'Neal, 94 East playing tornado benefit this Sunday
In addition to next weekend's all-star benefit at the State Theatre, another concert has sprung up to help those affected by last month's tornado. "Arms Around the Northside" will take place this Sunday afternoon, June 5, on Plymouth Avenue North across from the Minneapolis Urban League (2100 Plymouth Ave. North) and will feature performances by R&B singer Alexander O'Neal, Faith Udeh, and 94 East.
The concert will also include a cameo appearance by Marshall Thompson of the Chi-Lites, who organizers say will perform his song "Hold on to Your Dreams," an uplifting tune that was adopted by the Obama Administration as part of his re-election campaign.
Admission to the event is free, but the Minneapolis Urban League will be accepting donations.
