Each summer for seven years now, our music-loving neighbors in Iowa set their sights on the 80/35 Festival, which routinely assembles one of the better lineups of bands in the area. The inspired assemblage of groups regularly attracts area fans and bands to Des Moines for the two-day music festival, which features nearly 50 acts spread out over three stages.

A majority of this year's lineup has just been announced, and once again the folks at 80/35 have put together a festival aimed at music fans throughout the Midwest over the celebratory July 4 weekend.

The seventh annual 80/35 Festival is taking place on Friday and Saturday, July 4 and 5. The big names announced so far are Bright Eyes frontman Conor Oberst and his current tourmates Dawes, Best Coast, Dr. Dog, Ziggy Marley, and Xavier Rudd. Twin Cities' own Caroline Smith is on the bill, as well. More acts will be added to the lineup soon, including the Saturday headliner.

80/35 has grown in size and popularity in recent years, with last year's festival drawing 30,000 people into Western Gateway Park in the heart of downtown Des Moines to enjoy what has become a world-class music festival. The festival is organized by the Des Moines Music Coalition (DMMC), a non-profit that is dedicated to fostering a stronger and more diverse live music economy in the Greater Des Moines area.

Here is the current 80/35 Festival lineup, with more acts to be announced soon:
