Zen Box Izakaya

602 Washington Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55455 | University | 612-332-3936

Location Description:

The Japanese food at Zen Box has been a Minneapolis skyway favorite for years, serving takeout boxes of sticky rice, gyoza, grilled meats, and other simple lunch fare. Now the owners have opened Zen Box Izakaya--a bigger, warmer second location on Washington Avenue focusing on Japanese pub food. Try the rich and satisfying kimchi ramen bowl with its savory broth and soft-poached egg; Japanese-style curry with housemade pickles; skewers of grilled squid with ponzu; chicken kara-age, Japan’s answer to fried chicken; seaweed salad; and mashed potato croquettes with lump crab meat. The lunch bento boxes are a great value served with edamame, gyoza, miso soup, and cabbage salad, alongside your chosen entree.
