If you find yourself in need of a nosh well after midnight, your choices are often relegated to tots and chicken tenders. That menu is suitable in some cases, but if what you crave is a more grown-up option like seared scallops with almond gazpacho and tart green grapes, preferably with a nice gimlet, head to Nightingale in Whittier where the full menu is served until 2:00 AM. Nightingale features different types of small plates: sophisticated bruschettas, traditional Spanish tapas like spicy albondigas, and composed veggie plates like roasted beets with beer gastrique.
