The Depot Skating Rink

225 3rd Ave. S.

Were anyone looking for a location to film a romantic comedy in Minneapolis, we'd direct them to The Depot Skating Rink. The cavernous space overlooking Washington Avenue is hopelessly romantic and beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of the snowy cityscape. In a setting such as this, it's easy to imagine our heroine spinning around, tripping on her toe pick, and falling into the arms of that dashing fellow with the twinkling eyes. From there, the story basically writes itself: our new couple can linger over snacks at the bar -- say, warming up with a cup of hot chocolate -- or sip on wine and beer. It's a lovely place to fall in love - that is until the clich├ęd misunderstanding threatens to tear them apart... (The venue is also available for private rental, and offers discounts for military and college students on select nights. Their season runs from November to March.)
