The only thing smaller than Scott Ja-Mama’s restaurant is the menu itself, which offers straightforward barbecue options you’d expect to find at the other end of the Mississippi River. Regulars can’t get enough of the barbecue sauce, which is slathered on tender ribs, chicken, and pork. Steak and pork sandwiches come with chips and slaw, while bigger entrees get a twice-baked potato, slaw, and dinner roll. Prices are ridiculously cheap – the sandwiches are all under $6 – and the down-to-earth staff make you feel like part of their barbecue-loving family. The lone drawback: It’s cash only, so don’t even mention your credit cards.

I've said before that Minneapolis barbecue is like no other, and I'm adding Scott Ja-Mama's to the list of decidedly idiosyncratic regional 'cue.
