Minnesota Twins

Minnesota has long been Twins Territory -- since 1961, in fact – and its through their heroics that the Land of 10,000 Lakes has enjoyed some of its most memorable sports moments. Most notably, of course, were those two glorious World Series victories, notched up in 1987 and 1991, and a run of six Division titles from the early 2000s. Of course, the team's history stretches back another century, back its days as the Washington Senators, although the Twinkies themselves built their legacies on the fields of Metropolitan Stadium and the Metrodome. But it was their move to Target Field, in 2010, that truly solidified a baseball game not only as a sporting event, but a place to enjoy the best Minneapolis has to offer. There, you can sample a wide array of local eats, local beers, and occasionally even local music to accompany the baseball game on the field. Packed tightly into the Warehouse District, the ballpark rises from the shadows of legendary First Avenue and the Target Center, with Fulton’s Brewery just a hop-skip away. Target Field also pays homage to that storied past, with the entrance gates marking Twins greats -- Rod Carew, Harmon Killebrew, Tony Olivia, Kirby Puckett, and Kent Hrbek are all immortalized -- and Twins Plaza boasting a beautiful, open walkway. And then there's the field itself, that glimpse of green Kentucky bluegrass, and the sound of cracking bats, all of which can mean only one thing: it’s summertime in Minnesota.
