Gateway State Trail

The eastern Twin Cities boasts the Gateway State Trail, 18 miles of paved pathway for non-motorized use. Running through Maplewood, North St. Paul, and Oakdale, the Gateway Trail ends just north of Stillwater at Pine Point Regional Park ,and has several park pit stops along the way. Access is free, although a horse pass and ski pass are needed if utilizing the adjacent horse-trail or cross-country skiing. Parking is available at eight areas along the trail and along city streets near the trail. Dogs are welcome, but must be kept on a leash and cleaned up after. While the trail sits in a setting of lakes, wetlands, and parks, it also provides access to downtown St. Paul. The trail is wheelchair accessible.
