The Real Johny Debt : Celebrities with Massive debt problems-Infographic
Feeling bad about the money you owe to creditors? Want to run and hide every single time the phone rings? If so, you're certainly not alone. Millions of American are struggling with debt. Believe it or not, quite a few of our favorite celebrities and sports starts struggle with debt, too. The difference is that they had millions to start with and we, most certainly, did not. So how on earth did they create their messes?
Do you remember Stephen Baldwin, most notable for his role in The Usual Suspects? He owes a staggering $800,000 in debt. Considering he at one point had a net worth of $4 million, you would think he might have made some sort of financial plan. Most of his debt stems from the fact that his royalties are withering away due to his inability to find work.
You probably remember comedian Chris Tucker, known for his role in the Rush Hour movies – all three of them. Let's do some simple math. Chris earned more than $45 million for his roles in just the 2nd and 3rd movies and he owes $11 million in taxes to the IRS. He claims he just sort of “forgot” to pay them. We might just forget to feel sorry for him.
Wesley Snipes was pretty hot for a while, too, especially for his role in the Blade movies. Between 1999 and 2005, he grossed more than $35 million in income. Unfortunately, he earned himself a three year stay in the big house due to tax fraud that ended up proving he owed the IRS a whopping $17 million.
It's not all so costly. Everyone forgets to pay their bills once in a while. You know, like when Lindsay Lohan “forgot” to pay the $46,000+ tab for her hotel stay at the Chateau Marmont Hotel last summer.
You may still cringe the next time you see a random “800 service” number on your caller ID, but at least you can be confident in the fact you don't owe hundreds of thousands, or millions, that you should have been able to pay to start with.
