The city of Minneapolis replaced 22 street signs Monday.

"This completes the process of changing street and park names to reflect Bde Maka Ska, the Dakota name for the lake that has been used by the local American Indian community for many years," the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board wrote in a Facebook post.

From the 1820s to 2018, the body of water was known as Lake Calhoun.
