Camille LeFevre

The MIA has dug deep into its collections for this arresting exhibition, which showcases rarely seen works on paper. Imagine Georgia O'Keeffe and Eugène Delacroix, Thomas Gainsborough and Gustav Klimt, Edgar Degas and René Magritte in the same room, and you get the picture. Because of paper's sensitivity to light, the show's selections, gleaned from more than 40,000 prints and drawings, are rarely brought out of storage. Assembled in groups that focus on storytelling, portraits, figural abstraction, and first drafts, the exhibition spans 500 years of remarkable work by eminent artists. (Pictured: Choirbook Master; Lovis Corinth, Self Portrait; Arthur Rackham, Little Red Riding Hood; Rene Magritte, The 16th of September)
