Nouveau bluegrass adventurers Trampled By Turtles (pictured) have gradually built a national rep, turning up on Letterman and now headlining and curating this inaugural installment of their own rootsy Americana festival. The Turtles are still touring behind July's darker, moodier Wild Animals, produced by Duluth compatriot Alan Sparhawk, whose own trio, the slowcore-centric Low, will also weave its atmospheric web at the fest. Here's a rundown of what else is scheduled on the two stages: The folk-pop-rock hybrid sound of Seattle's the Head and the Heart made the year-old Let's Be Still a hit on the indie circuit. Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires offer ferocious, horn-driven soul, R&B, and funk influenced by Motown, Memphis, and James Brown. Alynda Lee Segarra leads New Orleans's Hurray for the Riff Raff on a dusty trail through rustic folk and blues with subtle contemporary touches and traces of NOLA roots. Milwaukee's Field Report, whose sophomore album, Marigolden, is due next month, wrap haunting folk and rock motifs around Chris Porterfield's intense narratives. With Nashville's Apache Relay, New York's Spirit Family Reunion, and Minneapolis's Erik Koskinen Band.
