The Soap Factory turns 25 this year. To celebrate, one of the gallery's regulars, Argentina native Alexa Horochowski, returns with a major exhibition of new sculpture, large-scale digital photography, and video. The work came about during a two-year artist residency at Casa Poli in Coliumo, Chile. Horochowski's show investigates form and physicality, using myriad materials that defy their origins and tactile associations. Titled "Club Disminución" ("Club of Diminishing Returns"), the exhibit also demonstrates the artist's interest in blurring traditional boundaries between nature/landscape and culture/symbol. Time, accumulation, and aggregation merge in her fossil of a credit card, a post-apocalyptic image of a culture forced beyond consumerism. There will be an opening reception from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, September 6.
