  • Terminal Bar

    Terminal Bar

    409 E. Hennepin Ave. Minneapolis, MN 55414
    612-623-4545

http://www.myspace.com/terminalbarmusic While it shares a name and a certain vintage blue-collar grit with a bar from Martin Scorsese's misadventures-in-SoHo film After Hours, it's nowhere near as despairing -- probably because its atmosphere is infused with a rock-club vibe that lets bar bands cut loose on the regular. • Toby Keith

Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill

1623 Park Place Blvd. Minneapolis, MN 55416
    763-450-9999

http://www.countrybarmn.com Situated in a modern shopping/dining/entertainment complex catering to a more upscale suburban crowd, Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill -- part of the country artist's national chain -- is bound to draw a crowd from all over the greater Twin Cities area for its frequent shows, ranging from up-and-coming country artists to more established acts. Accordingly, the bar is spacious and has a sizable dance floor facing its large stage. A giant red, white and blue guitar is mounted to the ceiling above the bar, but the all-American motif doesn't end there. The colors figure largely into the scheme no matter where you look, from the stage, to the walls (decorated in Keith memorabilia), to the gift shop -- yes, there is a gift shop. In addition to drinks and music, the bar is home to a full-sized restaurant serving down-home, country cooking. We hear there's also a mechanical bull hiding in there somewhere. More >>

Upstairs features a classic, unpretentious '40s-vintage bar atmosphere, while the Clown Lounge downstairs hosts weekly jazz nights. More >>
