Station 4 boasts a convenient location, friendly bar staff, an unostentatious neighborhood-bar atmosphere and a stage area that accommodates metal's loudness well.
Clubhouse Jager

Clubhouse Jager

This immaculately-restored Germanic-style pub with its popular outdoor patio is a sort of trendy end-cap of the Warehouse district's nightlife, foregoing a TV-assault atmosphere of noise for a relatively low-key atmosphere.
Whole Music Club

Whole Music Club

Nestled in the basement of Coffman Union, the Whole has been a fixture on the U of M's campus since the hippie days. There's no such thing as an expensive show here -- typical cover charge is $5 or less.

  • Beaujo

    Beaujo's Wine Bar & Bistro

    4950 France Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55410
952-922-8974 This cozy bistro and wine bar is where grown-up Edina folk go in lieu of Perkins. The walls are painted in golden hues, which has a warming affect like that of the dozens of wines served by the served by the half-glass and flight, in addition to the standard glass or bottle. The food is mostly approachable--pan fried walleye, flatbread pizza, portobello mushroom sandwich--but sometimes gets as edgy as PEI mussels steamed in a coconut milk, Kaffir lime, and lemongrass broth. Kings Wine Bar

    4555 Grand Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55419
612-354-7928 What does it take to be hip these days? Not long ago it was a mullet, a PBR tallboy, and a pair of tapered jeans. But after a few visits to Kings Wine Bar in southwest Minneapolis, it seems the new standard-bearers are sporting a glass of red wine, a 55419 zip code, and an infant wearing a onesie over a long-sleeved T-shirt. It's about time that Kingfield had a real neighborhood hangout and King's seems to be just that: it's a café, a wine bar, a coffee shop, and a lounge. It even has its very own book club. Chef Pete Maccaroni, previously of the Sample Room offers a menu of local, seasonal New American cuisine. The homemade tater tots may attract the most attention, but the real stars are the value-priced dinner entrées, which stand up to those at more upscale eateries. Read more about Kings Wine Bar >>
