Hundreds of signature tasty dishes are offered during this annual celebration from August to September, and the State Fair Grandstand is a favorite performance venue among big-time musical artists. Oh, and don't forget the classic carnival rides of the Midway or the 4H Club glory over in the animal barns. However, the state fairgrounds are open all year long. 5000 Center Court Bloomington, MN 55425
952-883-8600 Nickelodeon Universe is the current iteration of the corporate-branding Lazy Susan that is the amusement park in the center of Mall of America. Previously known as Camp Snoopy and the Park at MOA, it’s pretty much the same as its predecessors: some tame rides named after Nickleodeon brands, like the SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge (a rollercoaster) and the Circulo del Cielo (a Dora the Explorer-branded Ferris wheel), costumed characters wandering around waiting to interact with your kids, and a gift shop selling all manner of Nickelodeon stuffed animals and tchotchkes. It’s a little on the pricey side, but all in all not a bad place to bring kids under 10 years old. More >>
