  • Dave & Buster

    Dave & Buster's

    11780 Fountain's Way Maple Grove, MN 55369
    763-493-9815

http://www.daveandbusters.com When you want to rid the earth of some zombies, ride a faux snowmobile through flaming skies, drink insane shooters made with Red Bull and every DuKuyper flavored alcohol imaginable, there's only one spot in the metro to go: Dave & Buster's. Granted, it's not for people who believe the first duty of a restaurant is to advance the cause of American cookery, but with 32,000 square feet of skee-ball, air hockey, and zombie-slaughter opportunities, the place is the perfect antidote to cabin fever for those who appreciate video games. Oh, they also make one of the best cheesesteaks in the metro area, with ingredients brought in from Philadelphia. Better yet, you can get one practically for free any time but prime time Friday and Saturday night, as it's sold bundled with a game card. Hey, why not bring someone in for a business lunch? Could be the only time in your life you can expense skee-ball. More >>

  • The Depot Skating Rink

    The Depot Skating Rink

    225 3rd Ave. S. Minneapolis, MN 55401
    612-375-1700

http://www.minneapolisdepot.com Were anyone looking for a location to film a romantic comedy in Minneapolis, we'd direct them to The Depot Skating Rink. The cavernous space overlooking Washington Avenue is hopelessly romantic and beautiful, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer breathtaking views of the snowy cityscape. In a setting such as this, it's easy to imagine our heroine spinning around, tripping on her toe pick, and falling into the arms of that dashing fellow with the twinkling eyes. From there, the story basically writes itself: our new couple can linger over snacks at the bar -- say, warming up with a cup of hot chocolate -- or sip on wine and beer. It's a lovely place to fall in love - that is until the clichéd misunderstanding threatens to tear them apart... (The venue is also available for private rental, and offers discounts for military and college students on select nights. Their season runs from November to March.) More >>
