Zorongo Dance Theatre: Retratos
Choreographer Susana di Palma has always embodied the fierce spirit that fuels her company, Zorongo Flamenco. Her past works have fused artistry and political commentary, and this latest effort is no different, although it offers a more personal perspective as well. "Retratos" is a series of portraits of women from around the world, including an Iranian activist, an Argentine poet, and four Americans who think they have it all. As always, di Palma thinks and acts globally by including international artists, specifically Feliz de Lola, a Flamenco singer from Seville, the heart of Spain's Andalusia region. Di Palma's frequent collaborator, Gypsy Flamenco guitarist Pedro Cortes, will provide the stirring melodies.
