Zenon Dance Company: Spring Season
Zenon's spring fling features a new work by Daniel Stark, assistant professor of dance at Mankato State University, that re-imagines an Icelandic folktale, and one by Netta Yerushalmy, who created the raffish and wonderful "Hello My Name Is Catherine" for the company in 2012. The hard-working troupe will also reprise Kyle Abraham's spring-loaded "My Quarreling Heart" and Danny Buraczeski's iconic "Ezekiel's Wheel," a piece that incorporates text by James Baldwin and music by jazz-soul composer Philip Hamilton. Just watching the Zenon dancers switch their impeccably oiled gears from, say, Abraham's warp-speed ghetto blaster of a dance to Buraczeski's elegant exploration of the Civil Rights Movement is worth the price of admission.
