YOU'RE SOAKING IN IT: Dances saturated, with feeling
Starting this week, dance- and mischief-maker Megan Mayer presents seven separate pieces, most of them duets with former Zenon dancer and all-around fab performer DJ Greg Waletski. In "SCOUT," dressed in Boy Scout uniforms (shades of Moonrise Kingdom), the two navigate the power dynamics of an imbalanced and ultimately doomed relationship to songs by the Shaggs, Elvis Presley, and the Rat Pack, and sound design by Matt Regan. Meanwhile "52 Olgas," co-created with Waletski, melds Olympic gymnast Olga Korbut, songs of the Shangri-Las, and melodrama as Mayer and Waletski are joined by Stephanie Stoumbelis, Jael O'Hare, and Charles Campbell. There's a duet in snowsuits, one exploring the euphoria and terror of space travel, and a special commissioned Neal Medlyn video. Other pieces feature to-die-for performers Annie Enneking and Angharad Davies. Quite the cornucopia to fit on the Bryant-Lake Bowl's elfin 9' by 22' stage, but Mayer is a can-do artist if there ever was one.
Saturdays, 7 p.m. Starts: Nov. 2. Continues through Nov. 16, 2013
