Young Dance 25th Anniversary Gala
Since 1987, Young Dance has been introducing kids to the rigor, artistry, and fun of dance. "Stomping Grounds" lets loose the talents of these fledgling performers, who work with dance professionals on a regular basis. The concert features a new work by the majorly talented Brian J. Evans, choreography by members of Young Dance created from workshops with local artist and activist Patrick Scully (founder of Patrick's Cabaret), and a collaboration with the Semilla Project, a public arts initiative in the Phillips neighborhood. Dance as an art form and as a vehicle for social change rules as these kids get down and wise up to the world in which they live. The Saturday matinee is geared toward families with young children.
Fri., May 3, 7 p.m.; Sat., May 4, 2 & 8 p.m., 2013
