Wits: W. Kamau Bell
The greatest thing about Minnesota Public Radio's Wits series is that you never know what type of show you're walking into. Depending on the special guest of the evening, you may get heartwarming personal stories, hilarious one-liners, or even some political observations. This Friday night, you might just get all three. W. Kamau Bell, one of the hottest names in comedy and host of his own late-night talk show, Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell, is the featured guest (alongside musician Brendan Benson) for the second installment of the Wits 2013 spring season. The protégé of Chris Rock, Bell is known for his racially and politically charged material, along with his strong feelings about sweet-potato pie, making him the perfect choice to take center stage alongside host John Moe for a completely unpredictable night at the Fitzgerald. Since launching his show this past August, Bell has sat down with some of the biggest names in music, comedy, and current events, from Lewis Black to Tom Morello to Rachel Maddow, and is known for his refreshingly unique interview style and quick wit (get it?). But will all that experience onstage and in front of the camera prepare him for the unpredictability of Wits? We'll see. (Photo by Matthias Clamer courtesy of FX)
