Wits: An Examination of Diversions, Distractions, and Hey Look at That Thing Over There!
John Hodgman is known primarily as The Daily Show's resident expert on, well, just about anything. He's also recognized as the PC ying to Justin Long's Mac yang, in a series of Apple Computer commercials. Oddly, Hodgman's brilliance may have been that campaign's demise. A few weeks ago, TheStreet.com reported that Apple had nixed the popular ads. Perhaps it was Hodgman's likeable straight-man persona that did the spots in. So goofy and affable was "PC," he often made you want his computer, and not Long's super-hip machine. Hodgman, author of The Areas of My Expertise and More Information Than You Require, will be in the Twin Cities this week as part of Minnesota Public Radio's "Wits" series. Hosted by John Moe and John Munson, this installment will feature Neil Gaiman, author of Coraline, The Graveyard Book, and The Sandman graphic novel series, among other works, who will take part in the conversation by phone from "somewhere unlikely."
