Wild About Wine
Normally, drinking wine in the presence of grizzly bears and tigers would not be a good idea. Presumably, they would not pair well. But in a controlled environment like the Minnesota Zoo's Wild About Wine, it is a fantastic combo. Here guests can try dozens of varieties from a handful of continents, in addition to Minneapolis's own sharp and lovely Crispin Cider. The evening should also be all kinds of tasty. There will be a wide selection of hors d'oeuvres featuring meats and artisan cheeses. Sommelier Kristen Kowalski from the Wine Market stores will lead the tasting, and the Chris Lomheim Trio will provide a jazz soundtrack while guests meander and sip their way through the habitats. It's for a good cause; the proceeds raised will benefit the zoo's conservation programs. And if you're a designated driver or just not into chardonnays and champagne, tickets are discounted. Is it possible to come up with a better way to spend one of the final evenings of tolerable weather before the icy grip of winter seizes us? (Photo by dido)
