Wil Anderson

It was an ordeal involving three countries, but we finally got in touch with Australian comedian Wil Anderson as he was preparing to do a show in Canada. "I blame the Canadians," he says of the trouble being able to connect via phone from the U.S. He's going to need to get used to it, because he is spending more and more time in North America as his career continues to grow here. He's found Americans to be very welcoming of his comedy, though they're not often sure if he's British or Australian. "I used to do this bit where I compared the American version of the TV program Wife Swap with the British version. In my mind, I'm going from this wonderful British accent back to my regular voice. After my set, American comics would come up to me and say, 'You know those two voices are exactly alike to us.'" Americans have always been fond of the Aussies, of course, and the feeling is mutual. "We need you," says Anderson. "If America wants to go to a stupid war, we're the first ones to say, 'Yeah, we'll go! Where is it? Is it illegal? We'll come!'" And it's not just Americans who love the Australians. "You can go to almost any country and people don't have too many grudges against Australia. Don't get me wrong. I love America, and I'm making my career here, but when I go to France, the first thing I get down in French is 'I'm Australian.'" 18+. There will be a special, four-course meal offered on Valentine's Day.
