Western Sculpture Park Festival
Although the Western Sculpture Park hosts the annual Hmong Festival each summer, this will be the first year that the park will hold a festival dedicated solely to celebrating the space. From 1 to 5 p.m. families can enjoy interactive art and activities led by photographer Wing Young Huie, dancer Olive Bieringa, and five sculpture artists. Guests will snack, listen to live music, and take a tour of the park, which is a work of art itself. In the evening, the festival turns into a cabaret, with performances from spoken-word artists Tou Saiko Lee and Hilltribe, Sumunar gamelon orchestra, storyteller Danielle Daniel, and b-boy/b-girl break dancers from the Center for Hmong Art and Talent.
Sat., Sept. 17, 1-7 p.m., 2011
