This two-part, dual-location exhibition celebrates the work of Beijing artist Wang Youshen. At the Regis Center on the U of M campus (Quarter Gallery, 405 21st Ave. S., Minneapolis; 612.625.8096), the "Wang" portion includes photography on walls and dangling from the ceiling that turns a subversive lens on subjects both Chinese and American. The concept behind the "Youshen" installation at the Mpls Photo Center (2400 N. Second St., Minneapolis; 612.643.3511) is coexistence, and includes work from the series "The Whole Story of the Death of My Grandmother." During the show, the gallery will become a darkroom, underscoring the myriad emotional processes — aging, grief, death, acceptance — embedded in the work. There will be a public reception and artist's talk from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the Mpls Photo Center, and a public program and reception from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, at the Quarter Gallery.
