Video Games Live: Bonus Round
Many of us video-game nerds at some point or another have fantasized about playing our favorite games on as big a screen as possible. Sure, this may be more of a childhood dream, but it's a good one. The folks at Orchestra Hall think so too, so much so that they are offering an escape from your wee television set to experience video games in all their glory during "Video Games Live: Bonus Round." No matter what generation of gamer you are, and whether you prefer old-school classics like Space Invaders, Pong, and Donkey Kong or newer games like Final Fantasy and World of Warcraft, the orchestra has you covered. Be sure to arrive early for the pre-show festival where there will be game demos, competitions, a costume contest, and prizes. Stay late for the post-show meet-and-greet, where you'll be able to meet industry designers, creators, composers, sound designers, and voice actors. An added bonus: The orchestra doesn't expect people to sit still during the show. Not only will they perform music from a huge selection of video games, but there will be audience participation too. Guests will have the chance to play games during special interactive segments, and even compete with other players while the orchestra plays in perfect synchronization with the action on the big screens. There's no beating surround sound like that. (Image by kafka4prez)
