Twin Cities Zinefest
Interested in starting your own zine? Already have one going, but looking to meet other zine makers? Just find the culture interesting? Check out this free two-day festival set to entertain, inform, and inspire local artists interested in the underground art form. Saturday will feature open-mic readings by zinesters, followed by a screening of the documentary MPLS Zines. Sunday includes a talk on starting a distribution co-op, as well as a screening of the Joe Biel documentary If It Ain't Cheap, It Ain't Punk: 15 Years of Plan-it X Records. The party continues at Arise! Bookstore (2441 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis) Sunday at 6 p.m. with a concert featuring zine-lovin' bands Teenage Moods, Gerald Prokop, Bla Bla Blacksheep, and Zombie Season.
