Twin Cities Sneaker.Art Xchange
This Sunday, Studiiyo23 will host the Twin Cities Sneaker.Art Xchange at First Avenue. Moh Habib, owner and creative director of the Uptown shop, says that his love for sneakers inspired the event, though he wanted to plan something different than a typical sneaker summit or exchange. He decided to include the community, and invited artists, musicians, designers, and sneaker enthusiasts — dubbed "sneaker heads" — to showcase and sell their work at the gathering. "What we want to do is bring the artist community, sneaker collectors, up-and-coming local apparel brands, and musicians together under one roof for a day. It's an event for creative and positive people to come together and network and tell their story," Habib says. In addition to vendors, two DJs will be spinning tracks, 16 local musicians will play eight-minute sets, and food trucks will be selling snacks outside. For those interested in the sneaker exchange, three pairs are permitted per entry for trade. The day will end with a live performance by Raekwon of the Wu-Tang Clan in the Mainroom. Guests are invited to bring clothing or blankets to donate to people in need. All ages. (Photo by Moh Habib)
